At Dead of Night is not just another horror game; it is a horror grew out of a merger of a slashing ghost hunting simulator and psychological thriller, really. The way that it blurs live-action footage with gameplay makes this feel that much more than most horror titles out there.
The Story
You are Maya, a student trapped in a run-down hotel owned by a straight-up psychopath, Jimmy Hall. He’s got your friends penned up in their rooms, and let’s just say his plans aren’t very friendly. Maya manages to get away, but Jimmy is still out chasing her. To free her friends, she must discover Jimmy’s deepest secrets.
The twist? She found this old ghost voice receiver thing that allowed her to speak with spirits haunting the place, and as these ghosts begin to tell the truth about Jimmy’s past, it gets pretty wild.

Go to System Sound, More sound settings.
Then, under the Playback tab, select your speakers or headphones.
Click Properties, Advanced.
Uncheck “Give priority to exclusive mode applications”.
This helps a ton, not just in this game, but others too.
