POPUCOM is a neat multiplayer co-op platformer where you and your gang find yourselves on some wild alien planet. The entire game is about teamwork, like, seriously, you won’t get very far without your friends. There are different enemies and crazy puzzles, and through pure teamwork, you’ll have to skillfully figure everything out together. What can be pitched as an arcade fighting party game throws huge challenges your way, from gigantic bosses to brain-churning puzzles, all depending on how well you work as a team.
Color Means Everything
While most games exist simply to display visuals, color here appears to be a major mechanic by which the gameplay is realized. You will be changing colors to activate things, solve puzzles, and even attack enemies. Shooting the Pomu gel can change the environment and apply varying effects to different enemies based on its color. It feels like a mix of match 3 and action, a strange-sounding combination that simply works.
There are, of course, super relics gained through gameplay. My favorite is Rollo the Bomb: throw it and watch the explosions. There are also Captain Kitty for sneaky stuff, Barrier Bot for protection, and Power Kid for pure power. Each remix gameplay on its own, giving every playthrough a uniquely different feel.
